Hundreds of Servers Operating in iWeb’s New Datacenter

We are proud to announce that the initial phase of our new data center implementation project was successfully completed earlier this summer and that hundreds of servers are in operation in the new state-of-the-art infrastructures located in Saint-Léonard?s industrial park on the island of Montréal.

The first phase of the datacenter expansion project, that started in February with aquisition of the new building, consisted in the installation of generators, raised floor, air conditioning system, routers, dark fiber and other datacenter equipments in order to quickly build a secure and resilient server hosting environment to accomodate servers when our first facility would reach full capacity. Several employees are now present on the premises to service customers and handle server delivery that started at the new datacenter in June.

Now that the first phase has been completed, we are now initiating the second effort in order to expand the new datacenter capacity. During this new phase, the installation of additional equipments will increase the data center?s capacity to at least 4000 dedicated servers and provide enough redundant power to fill 135 colocation racks. Also, a Network Operation Center will be built in order to manage and monitor network activities more efficiently. Finally, new office space will accommodate system administrators and managers.

We are also pleased to see that with our new facilities we raise the bar when it comes to the performance level and reliability of a web hosting environment.

Implementing the new equipments and installing the first servers in the new datacenter was completed according to schedule. Now, Phase Two will have to be completed during the second quarter of our new fiscal year in order to be able to maintain our current growth.

The complete Datacenter Expansion project is planned to be completed in the next 3 years. As a result, iWeb?s premises will total more than 25,000 square foot with capacity to host almost 20,000 servers.
